You would not had to tell me twice about upgrading my head studs. I think it is always a good idea to upgrade your head studs and rod bolts when hitting over 400+ whp on our car. I have see some cars cheap out on spendind an extra $400-$500 for head bolts and rod bolts with installation and break a lot of **** that cost alot more to fix. But its just my .02. Good job BTW on the numbers AL .

Yes, head studs cost somewhere close to $100 and can save you lots of pain suffering and $$$$$$$$$$. By now it should be common knowledge that they should be upgraded. Unfortunately, not everyone spends the time to do the research they should. That information is there for the taking. I've used them in my supra and again in the evo and swear by them.

Very nice Al, good video too, I liked it all.

Nice to see both cars making great power on our parts and your tuning.

The cast manifold kit will not make the same top end power as the header kit we offer. It should however always make more boost sooner which will also mean more torque sooner. I have not seen any car with the header spool up faster than the cast manifold. The big difference is in the turbine housing, I don't feel it is so much in the manifold vs header.

Also, ALL of our turbo kits for the EVO use only the 44 mm gate. We do not use the 38mm gate at all.

I agree that head studs are a great upgrade when pushing higher than stock boost levels. I also agree that the stock rod bolts suck. However, I think if you are going to go through the trouble of having the rod bolts replaced, you might as change out the connecting rods, pistons, rod and main bearings. You still have to pull the block apart to install those rod bolts.

You do not have to pull the block apart for rod bolts.

The first was a 100% stock engine (cams only) with stock ecu and 780 injectors with David Buschur's old GT35 turbo kit (old style back housing and cast manifold) and stock fmic pipes ! This car previously made 455 whp on Buschur's dyno with 100 octane and the car came back to adjust a minor driveability issue and try to make more power on straight C16 which we did reaching 546 WHP !

Incidentally, this is a new record for the amount of power I have made with a stock MAF and stock ecu.

The next car was a 100% stock motor (cams only) Buschur Stage IV with Buschur Turbular GT35R turbo kit and Buschur alcohol injection kit on 100% 93 octane pump gas. This car also had the BR AEM EMS and BR Coil on plug ignition. This car came in for a full retune after another tuner had tuned the AEM, we made some minor changes in the set up re-routing the vacum hoses and changing the wastegate spring.

Al
can someone explain to me, how can a car be stock if it haves cams?

Gotcha, thanks Dave. I guess upgrading just the rod bolts in our motors isn't a bad idea. Thanks for clearing that up for me

took car to the track for a few shake down runs last night, got 1 1/2 runs in before my ailing clutch gave out.

have an old exedy twin in there and it was on the way out but just had to see what 500+ whp felt like going down the 1320. first run was at about 27 psi, trapped 122 mph.

couple turns on the mbc and 45mins later the second run....must be what it would be like if you were shot out of a cannon.

by the time i got third gear..............high revs no power clutch slippage and just coasted to the end. oh well it was fun while it lasted.

now on waiting list for an exedy triple from BR.
