Works Stage One

OK, It has been a long time coming, but finally gotten my car back from Works with all the goodies [Been on vacation, otherwise would have even better driving the Evo sooner !]
These observations are after only 20 miles of driving.
This car rocks, as DavidV and others on the board that have gotten the ECU Works reflash mentioned, continual power past the 5k rpm, general increase in drivability throughout the entire powerband, increase in speed sensation at all throttle position.
With the aperture and the exhale, all the above is further increase, and all i wanted to do is to stomp on the accelerator and feel it
The sensation is very additive, as the growl of the exhale at WOT is just wild, it is not tinny or obnoxious.
It just stays strong at high rpms, and i was hitting over 7k with ease, unlike stock, which runs out of steam by 5k!!
One more thing about the exhale, it is a thing of beauty, following the outline of the body and fits perfectly, unlike all the others that i have seen!!
With the Croxx plate, the front end seems even more solid, and alignment is not affected, and the handling seems better.
Well, that's it, folks, i will report on further details with more seat time.
By the way, the folks at Works was very professional, if anyone needs service, i highly recommend them. [they changed my oil and filter, i was afraid to bring it to a dealer if you know what i mean!]
Thanks, DavidV and all the great guys at Works, now, get the stage 2 install in my Evo, can't get enough

I know about the impressive #'s for the ECU alone, but what type of hp/tq gains did the whole package get? Did you get the 91 or 93 reflash? Wish I could get my car serviced by Works...

Need dyno numbers from both stock configuration and after mods to fairly evaluate performance against other available options.

This was a 91 ECU reflash optimized for the aperture, exhale.
I drove it again today to and from work and it really is a blast, the engine is reving so freely, and it pulls a lot stronger in both 4th and 5th, and the sound coming off is so mismerizing that i keep on feathering the throttle .
I have the stock dyno #, but do not have the # after the mods.
I think that all this should be good for at least 40 hp.
Will keep everyone posted for any other news.

How much money was the package. The Works ECU and Exhale costs how much installed. Under a grand i am interested. Still skepticle about ECU reliability(RMR disaster)and total HP #s seem decent but Torque gains appear minimal. Also Works doesn't appear to Dyno-tune your car with their parts. Am i right. Shiv might be more costly but reliability seems more likely with EXedes Dyno-tuned to match your parts and specific vehicle. i want to know if my car is detonating at certain levels of performance. Parts of me wants to go with the cheaper approach but cheaper might cost me more later. Also i want to know if i have a weak Evo or a strong one. 165-200 hp is a large discrepancy. I want reliability and performance and i will pay up front if i have to. Hoping WORKS proves reliable over time.

There is no need or benefit to run each customer's car on the dyno after installing the Brain flash. Keep in mind that unlike piggybacks, the WORKS flash programming is a finished, "plug and play" set-up. There is no tweaking, tuning or calibrating needed after the data has been uploaded.

The reason WORKS took so long to release our Brain flash (we have been in product development for nearly a year now -- starting even before the U.S. Evo VIII arrived) was to ensure that our maps were 100% safe, reliable and most importantly, repeatable.

As such, we are less concerned with variations on stock baseline numbers among Evos, and more concerned with achieving consistent, repeatable power gains regardless of whether the car baselined on the high or low end of the spectrum or where in the country it is being used. We pride ourselves in having achieved a comprehensive set of maps that provides a consistent delta for power gains -- regardless of whether the car started on the low or high end of stock power, and without concern for whether the car is being run in extreme temperatures, at high or low altitude, etc.

Keep in mind that when releasing an ECU tuning program, it takes months and months of track testing and street testing with a pool of several cars being used in all kinds of conditions to get it right. While we have spent countless hours on the dyno as part of our development process, we have spent as many if not more time on the track and streets to ensure that our customers were getting a real-world tried and true product.

By all means, I would encourage everyone to read the reviews on the WORKS Brain flash. This product -- as with WORKS entire line of performance upgrades for the U.S. Evo VIII -- was something that was put together with great care and only released after intensive R&D.

Our philosophy as tuners is simple: If we wouldn't put it on our own cars, then we won't sell it. Period.
