wired problem..... help me out here

over the last two weeks my car had been running really funny, at around 5k rpms i would get these nasty hiccup type backfires and i would lose alot of power. i know its not fuel cut, it's not that violent. i checked all the IC pipes, they are all clamped down tight. im going to run a boost leak test today, and a few days ago my car shot off a engine check light,P0172, system too rich. Just lastnight i was out driving and i turned off my greddy profec , and the problem stopped? could that really have been the problem? im lost here any help?

check all the piping, do a boost leak test. check all the vacum lines. sounds like profec is off.
