Take it to the dealer for the door and pipping. The pipping isn't aftermarket is it? If not, then you should be okay for the warrenty work.

What other mods do you have installed? This is not normal under stock boost levels if the clamps are torqued to specification: 53 +/- 9 in lbs.

This happens under boost or when you let off the throttle?
Your getting your boost reading from what (gauge) and from where?

mmm...sounds like our problem, read "HUGE problem with my EVO 8" I believe its a turbo problem - try to see if your compressor turbine wobbles. If you cant fix it I would bring your car back to stock and take it to the dealership, or atleast call Mitsu of America because there are more people with the same problem and we really need to get it fixed. -Zach

Rob @ RRM mentioned to me that Evo VIII turbo systems should NOT be using the HKS SSQBOV. This could be at the root of your problem. I'd call RRM and ask to speak with him about it.

It's a VTA. Though some are running VTA valves I think the general feeling is that recirc valves are the way to go becuase you are blowing off air that has already been accounted for by the ECU, with a VTA setup that is.

The SSQ does have a recirculation fitting available for it, or that's the news according to my HKS catalog as I'm sure it's on their website as well. mad is right in saying that it's not the best thing to dump counted air.

The problem with the HKS is that it is not real responsive and does not open that fast, even though it has two valve to help.
Recirc or not it causes more surge than alot of the other valves available and it's primary job to prevent surge.
