no power to front wheels? drivetrain issue?

tonight i launched my car at 4500 rpm.(never tried before) everything was going great then my engine light came on. as i was driving the car felt like the steering response was not as great and "touchy" as it normally is.

as ive been told that when all wheel drive cars lose there power to the front wheels the turning radius of the car it better (which is the same case in my car, i could u-turn the car in spots where i normally couldnt.)

there seems to be no issues to the drive-ability of the car, besides there seems to be no more power to the front wheels. could this be an electronic/computer issue with the car because there is no noises or any issues it seems from the drivetrain that would harm this function.(although i could be wrong.) this is why i think it might be a electronic/computer issue, although im no macanic so i do not know for sure.

anyone know what the problem might be besides me being an idiot screwing up my car.

Don't guess what the CEL is about.

Get it looked at with a Tactric cable and pull the trouble code with ScanTech and let us know what the trouble code is.

How do you know you have no power to the front wheels? Did you put the car onto a hoist, put the car in gear and noticed the front wheels not turning? The worst way to troubleshoot a problem is to start guessing what went wrong, especially when you have a trouble code that can point you in the right direction

i would say just get a OBD2 reader and figure out what the code is.

and if for any reason you did lose power to the front wheels, keep it that way, people would pay money for that. lol

your car has a MECHANICAL 50/50 torque split, there is no way a computer could change that regardless of any error. There is no way your evo has lost power to the front wheels without INCREDIBLE drive train damage.

+1 You would have serious damage before the center diff would drop power to the front wheels. Go to your local Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts to have them pull the code.

If something went wrong with the transfer case or tranny you'd know it.
