Weird ticking sound, Need Help!!!!

Well my car is making a weird ticking sound coming from the manifold/turbo and it usealy does around 1,800. It happens When I rev it and it comes down but today I noticed that its starting to do at idle. Im really worried at what it might be. I really need you guys help on trying to figure this out.

Are you sure its not coming from the timing belt area?My car has a bit of a squeal/whine coming from the timing belt side like a belt is loose. When the car is cold it will whine a bit while it is warming up but after it warms up the whining goes away.My car just started to make the noise a few days ago.My mechanic is going to look at it tomorrow so hopefully its nothing serious.

My car ticks as well...two very common ticks are injector tick and valve tick, it's not bad, but it happens eventually...

Im positive its not the timing belt, you can clearly hear the ticking sound from the manifold/turbo

Please my friend dont take this the wrong way but I know how the injectors sound and if you were to hear this you would be like "what the hell is that" Im going TTP later this week to see what I can find out. Car still runs good and hard so I will cross my fingers. Thanx again for your inputs. Any more are welcome.

More then likely it is valve-train tick you are hearing. It indeed sounds very much like injectors (if you've ever heard them) but more on the mechanical side then the sound of electronic pulses. Most of the EVOs start to tick after they have had a good amount of miles put on them or if cams have been installed, they are harder on the lifters.

Another thing that ticks (I'm not sure if you have one or not) is the solenoid from electronic boost controllers. They tick under boost, and if you mounted it on the inner fender, you can hear it more because the noise is amplified through the sheet metal.

if its a loud tick it might be a hole in the exhaust manifold.

I have a MBC so i dont think its the solenoid. Now I only have 10,000 miles and I dont have cams. So Im not sure what it can be. I tought it would lifters or something but it only does it at idle and when coming down/ slowing down and it starts at about 2,000 rpm and it goes away at 1,300rpm. The noise at idle goes away after the car is hot. Exhaust manifold is new and it also did it with the stock one. What do you guys think?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. If its not your manifold which is what happend to me then maybe its your EGT sensor. Do you have an EGT sensor?

I had the ticks two times... two times, I heard the same things, injector, valve-train, exhaust leak...

1st time, rod knock with the pistons slapping the walls in #2 and #3. Injector was stuck open, diluted the oil, killed the bearings.

2nd time, new short block, #1 main bearing disintegrated at 160 miles.

No more ticks...

So, get it on a lift and have professionals listen to it.

Well talk to my tuner he says it sound like some ti=ype of exhaust leak. Since the car does more when its colds and it almost goes away while hot. Im going to do a compression test with him later on this week. If it was lifters wouldnt it do it at idle and while climing the rpm. Car is still running good.... to good to be having problems.
