Read back a few posts Hint....hint.....has to do with Crank Position Sensor!

Glad to hear someone found a fix for their specific problem.

However i don't think ours is that simple

We want to try another AEM as well but all the cars here are 9's and his is the only 8 here right now

Well here goes another problem that maybe someone could help me with.......While everyone's cars are slighty to heavy modified.......mine is completely stock, except for a blow off valve, stage one clutch and lightened flywheel. How everyone is getting this P0300 code at WOT, mine seems to sputter while cruising at 74MPH, at around 3400RPMS, I did change the the spark plugs, but the problem came back very shortly, after being gone for about a day or two. My "super" mechanic thinks it may be 3 options that could be setting it off 1) Imput shaft in the transmission
2) injectors probally dirty
3) due to the unbalanced flywheel

Can anyone help me on this.....? Please

Just to rule this out, is the blow off valve a vent to atmosphere, or is it a recirculating valve?

You say sputter, but is it actually throwing a code?

Same prob.

1. Could be bad batch of fuel.
2. Check for Vacuum leaks.
3. Change Plugs.
4. Slap onto Dyno, have a look at your AFR, throughout the range, is it safe ??

Hope that helped ..

Yeah BOV is vented to the atmosphere, I got the HKS version 2 from Gruupe S. I would be driving........steady at any speed all of a sudden CEL comes on. lIt feels as if its not getting enought gas or something, you have to let off the gas pedal, and then put your foot back into it

Well went back to the old BOV, it did the same thing. Went and changed it to a turboXS BOV and the same thing. Read back a few pages and someone said it might be the CPS. Well i just had mine replaced, i haven't done the spark plugs yet, but will be doing that this weekend.....as far as vaccum leaks,,,,,,,,,,,,,anyone know where i should start?

Start with a full boost pressure test. You may find that you have more than one leak like I did. I put 30PSI on the car and just started fixing hoses, tighteneing clamps, etc. Once all this was done I found that my throttle body seals were leaking BAD. I replaced them and now the car is running like a champ again.

Also the CPS (CAM) sensor wires are in a bad spot. It is possible for the wires to be pulled a bit and cause some issues. Make sure to check them too.

Finally, the CPS (CRANK) plug is right behind the cam gears on the back side of the engine near the FPR. That plug can come un-done rather easily too. Make sure it is tight.

These are the things I foind with my car.

Hope it helps.

I just got my car back and the CPS cured my problem! The car runs smooth as can be, all the way to 7800 rpms! In addition to changing the CPS, my car was in for a tranny rebuild/ upgrade (double synchs, Evo IV MR 5th gear, etc) & I'm running the evil RP 75/90 W synthetic oil, upgraded two motor mounts, swapped out Tanabe 2.75" for a MR 3" DP to more closely match my full 3.5" exhaust. We want to try swapping back in the old CPS to see if the misfire returns, but I wont be able to do that until later this week.
The car is a frigen freight train in 5th gear now, I just about never have to down shift.

Glad the CPS fixed your issue Sgt Blamo!

Still haven't gotten a chance to swap in another AEM on this car but hopefully soon. Been busy getting ready for the return of my engine from AMS and getting my car back on the road.

BTW swapping the CPS takes less than 5 minutes, it's one 10mm bolt that holds it on.

I'll update once we get time and figure out what is wrong with this car. I have done a fair amount of tuning on the car and it runs very well everywhere else though, and when it happens to not misfire its a monster.
