is it common?

Hi all, i am a newb and will be getting a EVO when i return from this wonderful deployment to Iraq . I have been reading alot on here, and have been noticing a lot of people talking about synchro problems in the tranny. What I want to know is if this is a common occurance for this to happen, or is it only when people beat on the gears? is it only in the 6spd or is it also common in the 5spd? From what I gather, it is only when the tranny is beaten to death on a track or drag!

thanks,

mini

That happens when the car is beaten on. Sometimes, if the car is driven normal they can grind a little too, just depends on the way the car was taken care of by the previous owner.

If you beat it and abuse it you may have problems. I have an 03 and have no problems at all and its not stock.

I really wouldnt worry about it, I love it.

What unit are you over there with? I'll be there in June 08

Most people who have problems beat the crap out of their cars and can't figure out why the cars start to have problems.if you take care of your car than you have nothing to worry about but before you buy a used EVO,do some research on the car and find out as much about the cars history as you can.

i am in south Baghdad now.. but will be leaving here soon.

so what you all are saying is it is "NORMAL" (like any beaten tranny.) for the synchro's to go out, but more pronounced since in AWD!?
