How to drain all the Transfer Case Fluid out?
How to drain all the Transfer Case Fluid out?
Is there a special way to drain all the Transfer Fluid out?
I was doing the Transfer fluid change for the first time and with the car level, I was only able to drain out about 0.3 quart of fluid. I vaguely remember someone suggested you have to turn the wheels to help it drain more, is it true?
Thanks.

Which wheel to turn though? I've tried turning the front (in neutral gear though, and rear tires on the ground. I've also tried turning the rear (in neutral again) when the front are on the ground. But I dont see any more oil draining.
If the car has the be in gear, then all 4 wheels has to be off the ground?

I usually do the car in neutral, turning either one of the front wheel. You should see the other front wheel turning in the opposite direction. Also, the car should be level, so all 4 wheels need to be off the ground.
do it when the car is warm. all 4 wheels needs to be off the ground. turn the rear wheel and the front should turn in the same direction also, that means that the gear inside the t-case is turning. if you turn the front wheel and the other side turn the opposite direction, then the gears inside the t-case is not turning, just the front diff is turning.
hmm ive always just done it when the car is hot.. Ill jack it up, undo both drain and fill plugs and let it down to drain for 20 min or so. I usually get a lot of fluid out...
