SES light "E" - code (shift solenoid)

SES light "E" - code (shift solenoid)???
So I got a code reader, and the code reader spits out "E" for a code:
P0770 Shift Solenoid E Malfunction
P0771 Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off
P0772 Shift Solenoid E Stuck On
P0773 Shift Solenoid E Electrical
P0774 Shift Solenoid E Intermittent
**what is a "shift solenoid" anyways**
recently, my clutch felt like it was slipping, but it only slips for a second, then engages.
so, I played with the clutch pedal adjuster...didn't do much.
Anyone else have this issue?
