The short Oil filter is actually the 2g DSM style. The short fatty is the 3kgt.

I rock the shorter stubby. I've tried K&N, but saw a bit of a drop in oil pressure at idle. Same with mobil one. Likely has better filtration. But made my lifters tick.

I have cut an OEM apart to check it when I got the car. And... I have no idea how it would have cracked. I had snips and it wouldn't cut that housing easily. I find it true to your analytical form to see you have it x-rayed tho Jack. I'd have just chucked it and shrugged. But that's why you create logging programs... and I don't.

lol. Neat tho!

Ive been a tech at toyota nissan dealer for about 2 1/2 years and seeing alot used cars the factory Denso filters are top notch and alot better then alot of other OEM filter out there.

Edit: Mitsu and Toyota both use Denso filters.

haha, it was easy enough to go have a friend do it, one of the only advantages of Long Island is the huge aerospace industry here... What was interesting is the microfractures from the impact besides the one large crack which wasn't actually easily visible other than oil weeping through it.
