transmission whining in 1st?

transmission whining in 1st?

I was driving home last night and noticed that whenever i pulled away from a stop in first there's a noticeable whine coming from the transmission, and I only hear it when I'm in 1st...any ideas?

Just the transfer case. Common with all

awd cars.

It's still making the noise in other gears, but you just can't hear it due to the other noises.
