stock turbo seems laggy

with stock intercooler and pipes my car hit 20psi at about 3400rpms but after intercooler, uicp and licp it seems to spool at around 4200. does it really take that long to build boost in a larger intercooler or does anyone think that i have a boost leak?

Yeah I would say a definite boost leak. My spool didn't change at all with a 3.5" ic

I agree. It's either a horrible core or a leak. I just got done with some logs and hit 24 psi at 3200 RPM ... I've got the 3.5" eBay IC.

It also depends on the pressure drop of the new IC and piping. Larger piping and fmic will have a slight loss over the stock system due to larger spaces to fill with air, but unless it's a real cheap setup I couldn't see an 800 rpm difference.

Yeah, the Buschur setup is very good. Easiest way to check is leave the car off and take an old coupler and stick a schrader valve in it. Use the valve to pressurize the piping from an air compressor, and then spray soapy water around all the piping and couplers to look for leaks...if it leaks, you'll see bubbles.

if i did this wouldn't it just leak out of the turbo inlet?

Definitely a boost leak. I had that exact setup.

i hit 24psi at 4200rpms.... but im on a 30r

you most likely have a leak somewhere in your IC pipings. double check all the couplings.

although you do have a larger FMIC, your UICP and LICP reduced significant number of bends and shortened the path overall... your spooltime shouldnt be greatly affected in either direction
