E85 tuning
I don't have an EVO but I want to get tune for E85. According to some NASIOC menber it takes about amount of tunning to get a good working map
, what do you guys think. For those of you who are tune for E85, did you tune your car yourself or who was the tuner a how long did it take?
I have an 07 wrx with a VF39 turbo.
thanks

It all depends on what kind of power you're looking to make. If you want to stay in the conservative numbers 300-350 AWHP you might only need new injectors and obsiously a tune for E85. The octane is much higher but E85 requires more fuel to produce the same amount of energy as normal gas so you have to add more fuel.
E85 is also pretty corrosive and although a lot of newer cars these days come with factory setups that support E85, I'm not sure the evo's fuel tank, lines & pump are up to the added corrosiveness.

I plan on getting 850cc and new fuel pump. But they said that 2 hours for dyno tunning with a pro tuner is not enough to get a good working map. How long do you guys take to get a good map for E85?
Well on a EVO i would think only 2-3 hours, possibly 4 if you ran into a problem.

1. Amount of energy in E85 has nothing to do with how much of it you need.
2. Ethanol is not corrosive, most people drink it on a daily basis
methanol is corrosive.
