weird issue with my wife's Evo IX

my wife's evo is totally stock, to start out.
But today it started doing something really weird. We're driving along, and the turbo isnt spooling. not spooling, not spooling, not spooling... then all of a sudden *WHAM* loads of boost and away we go

I think the wastegate is sticking. Does this sound right?
And if so... how do we fix it?

If it's totally stock; I'd take it in as well.

Buy yeah, sounds like something is sticking. Boost in a stock IX should be building by 3500 rpms I think. When does it 'hit'?

possible, but the car only has 7500 miles on it... I'd be surprised if it was that bad that fast

ok, more info
it looks like boost maxxes at 0.5bar
which is really low
and its only short lived
then I go to 0 PSI (but not in vacuum)

I'm all kinds of confused

lol everyone likes to say that, but she can drive like you wouldnt believe
we were building up a 240sx to be a drift car for her to compete in, but then the mechanic disappeared

she can do more hands-on with a car than I can. I know more about them, but you'd rather have her fix it than me

Your max boost shouldn't be .5 bar.

I'd pop the hood and make sure all the intercooler pipe hoses and fittings are attached well. If you can, do a boost-leak test to make sure you don't have any heavy boost leaks.

.5 is what, like 7psi? Something is def wrong. If you get tired of looking, just take it to a dealer like others have said (I just don't trust the dealers, they always scratch my ish). And if the wastegate is sticking you should be building a lot more boost

mitsubishi says it is the clutch
they say the problem is that it is slipping into neutral
which sucks. not covered under warranty, of course, but really irritating on a car with only 7500 miles on the clock
