SO....while it seems obvious.....

Aside from a neater arrangement, and the ability to access the turbo for maintainence and change-outs, what are the added benefits to the top mount turbo?

Added cooling? Getting it out from behind the radiator?

This might be a dumb question, but I thought the hp and tq lines always crossed at 5250 RPM

Not that it matters a whole lot, but they didn't if you look closely. The numbers on the left and right line up too..

wow you guys don't search at allllllll hahahhaah

"the advantage to having the turbo topmounted would be ease of installation and removal.

however, thats not really the theory behind the HVS (High Volume Solution) design. the major performance benifit is the higher volume runners, which aids in reducing the topend backpressure and decrease the topend torque loss directly associated with this backpressue.

basically, the extra volume allows the engine to run much more efficiently in the topend, without increasing spooltime.

we're seeing great gains with this kit. in fact, i've heard rumors that a certain Time Attack car using this kit, is already breaking records in testing... "

that's a qoute from Ken aka PEAKboost

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=292714

and that's their for sale thread, the kit costs: 3999.00 shipped
but you need an Evo 5 style radiator
Upgrades:

include the PWR EVO 5 radiator $4499.00 shipped.

Peakboost FMIC: $749.00

24" x 12" x 3.5" Garrett core with custom end tanks
supports up to 750whp
no cutting direct fit

that's from their thread... pretty sure there was a typo on the Rad ... but you get the point

Having it top mount is great to work on and great for keeping the heat away from the block. You can pull that turbo off in less than 10 minutes if you need to. For sure one of the fastest EVOs that fills up for less than $2.70 per gallon.

Must say that the car looks so much like a sleeper in person. stock evo8 rims, body has some wear and tear, no bling bling guages in the interior. even the intercooler looks just like a normal upgrade for evo's. but when you hear it idle, you'll know its got some beast in it.
Awesome tune by trevtek as well.

Very nice. Good to see you keeping Doug busy.

Whoever mentioned the lines do not cross at 5250 rpm, is correct though. It is quite odd.
