Blow By System (GM MAF) Questions and who is running it??? PLEASE ANSWER!!!

Hey guys. I am going with the GM MAF w/MAF translator box in order to run the Tial 50mm BOV..

Who is all running this? Are any of you on OPEN ECU? I am installing my new turbo kit, along with this and tuners have been telling me that it is hard to tune.. Did any of you come across this?

Also, is it easy to setup??

This is the safe way to run that BOV and my UICP had a flange for a Tial so I am going to run it..

My tuner said that he tried to tune some one's evo with the blow through setup and failed.. He said everything went well and then one day the tune was **** because of the GM MAF.. PLEASE fill me in on the pros and cons of this.. and if I am going to be able to get it tuned right!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!

Do a search for blowthrough MAF or "blow through" MAF

Theres TONS of info about people running them or variations of technology..

Anyone who told you they cannot tune for one is incompetant and you should use a different tuner. It might have just been a bad sensor or setup, but its no different than tuning for any other mod.

I have been using a custom blowthrough setup with custom electronics since 2004 with no major problems once I got the quirks out of it. The MAFT and MAFTPro take alot of the difficulty out of doing what I did.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...lowthrough+MAF (still running a variation of the original design)
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...lowthrough+MAF (Oh my, emissions and OBD-II legal too)
http://www.aktivematrix.com/UTEC/mal...gt35r-divx.avi (The car running/idling with all of those mods..)

Its not a MAFT or MAFTPro since I'm using a Ford cobra (granatelli) type sensor, but the GM setups work, I have installed and tuned them, and they get similar results. Its going to be highly likely that using a GM sensor is your only option these days since the original supplier of my electronics is defunct and the new manufacturer of it has not yet shown a production ready product.

I'm done beating this dead horse.. LOL

Ive used them in 1Gs several times and still have one in my 93 with DSMLink right now. It hit 445 whp and 358lb ft. on a Dyno jet. The clutch slipped also on that last run and the car was still in the 10:1 a/f ratio. Spring time with a new clutch I think I can hit 480-500 whp at 30 psi on my 30R. I have had to scale my maf with it and the 1000s that are in it now. The 750s werent nearly as touch as teh 1000s are. I ran 11.67 at 122 in the car. I was driven on the street for about a year and had drivibilty I recommend them for DSMs and dont see a reason not to on an Evo.
Edit: Ive only had expereince with the 3" Gm and V2 original MAFT. not the Pro.

ive been running the 3inch gm maf and same original maft, on my 3g for like 8 months so far with no problems at all and makes it easy to do quick adjustment instead of going into ecuflash
