otherwise 272's or any 272/264 or 264/272 combo will suffice. it just depends on where you want to go as far as power is concerned.
don't buddy clubs need spring and retainers? for the op i would do head studs as long as your in there.

You don't need 280s if you have a stock turbo 264/272s or 272/272s will do fine it's good for a street setup and top end too.

I'm happy with my HKS 264/264 combo. On straight 91 octane I made 325 whp on a dynojet. "Stage 1 +" w/ stock 9.8 turbo and 02 housing, stock injectors, stock cam gears, stock fmic and piping. Idles like stock too!

I raced my buddies 8 with similar mods but he has a evo9 turbo, hks 272/272, and 660's and we were pretty even from 60-120 (absolutely no other cars around of course). I though he'd start to pull on me up top but did not. He does need a re-tune though.

Thinking about going with Brian Crower Mivec cams on my IX... only 360$ for them... compared to others in the upper 600's $

FTW

ive got hks 272s and i went ahead and built my head when i did the cam install. some cams require upgraded valve spring/retainers. its always a good idea to replace them even if not required.

I would go with HKS 264/272s it works very well on my car great idle plus top end. I've ran a couple of guys with 280s not sure if they had crower's or gsc's but, just say i can get them by two cars lengths at the end of fourth and still continue pulling away in fifth.

if your using stock rev limit (NO) keep the stop spring and retainers unless you got the money for them and the install.

I talked to a tech at cosworth about that because someone told me to replace the valve springs and retainers. I called and he said, "no, if you keep stock rev limit, stock is fine. If you are going over that then yes.

Then I asked, "they told me that the oem would wear out quicker with these aggressive cams"... He said, "haha, you will be building your motor way before that happens", and he is right. Most of use will go with a built motor before 100K, some way before that.

IF my stock springs and retainers last 40K of my now 20K then i'm happy.
