ouch...that looks really bad...how'd that happen?

 

I think this is as bad as it can get. it happened while driving home, during partial throttle and 5-6k rpm. i have an alarm for boost, methanol spray pressure, AFR, and it didn't go off when the motor blew.

 

the piston in cylinder #2 looks usable!!

WTF Happened? whats with the dropped valve? what went through the motor, besides motor bits?

thats a sad state of affairs......looks like a 2.3 maybe in your future.

DAM!!! how the hell did u do that??? tell us the story man!!! its pretty pbvious that, that ****s been going on for a while., just took all she can handle then gave up!!! wow!!!!

 

one dropped valve? more like 3 of them. whats wierd is that piston #3 shattered, yet nothing happened to those valves.

 

how much boost at the time? bummer dude

The cyl walls look like they show wear (bearing worn and piston starting to flap around in there). You didn't hear any noise prior?

I dont like david. too much of Al's bad attitude rubbed off on him. plus, i originally put this motor together and lasted me 50k miles of HARD DAILY abuse. I am just going to do it one more time.

no noise or ANYTHING unusual about the engine.

 

So what are you going with for the new motor 2.0, 2.3? What meth kit did you have?

 

got the head today. picking up a short block locally sometime this week (oddly enough from the same place i bought this motor in july 2005) and TTP shipped me out his forged piston/rod set.
the only thing i am debating on getting is the valve springs.

 

Was it on pumpgas or methanol and pumpgas?

 

Dang man...I had a friend with his DSM same thing happened. Good luck with the rebuild? Plans for bigger and better??
