Mis-Fire
Mis-Fire
Okay I have an EVO VIII 2003 and 72k miles. I have never had any issues with my engine but in the last 2 months my egine light keeps popping on. Here is what has happened; typically on the highway at normal speed (65ish) the egine studders and then the light comes on.
The dealer has reflashed the ecu. The same issue happened again. And then they noticed that there was a misfire spark plug so they replaced the plugs and now they are not sure of the issue.
Does any one have a clue because the light went off again. Same exact situation as previous... HELP....
THanks

Its a real common problem with our cars. Change the plugs, and see if it goes away. If it doesn't then you are plagued with it like the rest of us. Try searching P0300 and see what comes up.
Ohhhhhhhh, you'll find many threads about this. Good luck. I've got 45K on my 03' with it tuned and mine still pops up.
It comes and goes...I've just learned to live with it like you'll see alot of people have unfortunately. It mostly happens to the 03's and some 04's mostly.

Have you recently got a clutch change? If so you probably now have what alot of people call the so called "DECEL NOISE"?
Many People have tried everything from simply changing the CPS (cam position sensor) to sending their trans to SHEP (search GEARS) to fix this. I get this code daily and clear it daily so i just live with it for now

Make sure of the Gap of the plugs..... Thats what causes 90% of misfires under boost... Gap them at about 0.024mm. Changing the plugs will do really no good if they're not gapped correctly.. Hope this helps
