Does anyone know how much horsepower the stock rods can handle?

As far as evo's go it's generally the stock rod bolts you need to worry about. And increased RPM usually kills them before horsepower can. I'm not sure how much torque the rods are rated for, but a stock block is usually pretty maxed out by about the 450-500 awhp range. No idea if any of this holds true for the 4g63 in your gsx.

1 BILLION DOLLARS, er uh..... I mean horsepower.

I agree, the rod bolts are the weakest link but then again I had ARP rod bolts and still got a spun rod bearing I'd say saftly a daily driver on stock rods is good for 350-400 with out meth.

has anyone actually broke a rod thanks to power alown (ie no dept. or the piston braking first)???

just wondering how strong they are from stock. i know some other 2.0ltr blocks (cossy) have VERY strong rods out the box. its notmally just the pistons that are weak.

cheers Chris.
