Be aware that you will get some noises going slowly around corners and backing up and turning. This is normal. The noise will be more if you do the rear diff bushings.

IceHawk- did you in the past autox a Miata?

Thanks to John for the rear diff upgrade. I havn't had much of a chance to really give it a go since the weather is crappy and the car is stilll in pieces but, I'm sure once i get a chance to actually drive the car up a hill i'll be happy!

Anyone want to come hillclimb?

Figure between 1-2 hrs of labor, if I remember correctly. I had Whiteline diff bushings installed at the same time.

Well i finally was able to take the car out and give her a go. We had our first Test and tune of the year for auto-x. What is my impression of the TRE upgrade? Well, its simply amazing! I really cannot believe the difference it made. It is soooooo much fun to drive now. Thanks again and i'f you have ever wanted your car to have power on oversteer on corner exit you won't be dissapointed.

One of the local guys installed mine the other day in his garage in about 1.5 hours(out with OEM and in with TRE). It initially made quite a bit of noise while turning with a little throttle, now it is hardly even noticable, I guess it takes a bit to break in. I asked John at TRE he said normally around a tank of gas to setlle in.

One thing to note, John said the service for the MAX LOCK will be going up to $425 very shortly, so, call now to get the $375 rate(actually it might already have gone up, not sure).

Oh, I went with the 1.5 way TRE rear diff. Now I can't wait to get my suspension so I can test it out at an Autox!!!!!

Great to hear the news Jeremy! Looking forward to seeing the car in action. (although it won't be till July unfortunately for Tara and I) For some reason I don't think the celica is going to be able to keep up this year... heh

Craig,

Any reason you went with the 1.5 over the 1way?

John

I had no idea which way to go to be honest, too many differentials for me. I'm only use to having one diff in the front. lol I PM'd guys(Nationally competitive) on here and on other sites looking for input and I took the advice from guys on here as well as John at TRE, they told me to go with the 1.5 way so I didn't question it. Hmmm, is that not right? I'd really hate to have to re-do this mid-season, but, if I do then I will. The good news is I have my OEM diff to send to TRE while I continue to compete if needed so it will be a painless swap.

i'm pretty sure you're going to want to put in just a plain ol' open diff in the rear.

p.s. we have a 1.5way, it seems to work just fine.

So Marshall, is there anywhere the 1.5 way helps over the 1 way? I've got a TRE 1 way in the car since last spring. I was under the impression the 1.5 way can hinder turn in. Apparently you guys don't have any issue with it.
