what size E-clip on 6spd underhood shift linkage?

So i took my tranny out for the 3rd time now and once again lost that damn E-clip that holds the bigger of the two shift linkages lever to the cable. I could have swore they were 5/16" but when i went to home depot to get a few all i could find was 3/16" so i got 4 of those. I need a solid answer as to what the size is so i dont sit there all night and try to get something on thats too small.

Can't you just measure one out?

E Clips are measured with the inner diameter so just grab on the inner diameter size and one just a size smaller and see what you like. They can't be more then a buck a piece...
