there are so many different configuration's of 272's and 280's made by different companies...

but the simple answer is: the duration ie272 is the duration that the cam is open.

so in short, the 280 is open longer than the 272 hence, more performance.
This is the dumbed down answer, but i'm not knowledgeable enough in evo cams to give a better one.

I believe the main difference is that the higher the duration means better top end power while losing a bit of spool or mid range power. You have to look at the duration of the cam as well as lift. For example my GSC 280s are 280 duration and 11.5mm lift (11.5mm is very aggressive).

Fuel pump, TBE, MBC, intake, tune.

Depending on what cam you go with...you might need to upgrade the valve springs and retainers.

people usually dont go with 280s unless theyre running a bigger turbo right? i have never seen 280s in a evo with just basic mods, i have 272/272 and they work perfectly for me and i have 750s, wally 255, intake, tbe, clutch, and flywheel.

for the 280's, valve springs and retainers are highly recommended also + Head Studs + Cam Gears
