The JDM magnesium turbo serial 70 is prone to failure, as was my case, with a completely stock car with about 4000 miles.
I then bought a replacement and from japan they sent me the 71 serial one. As far as i know they had quite a few failures on the 70 one. Your one though does not seem mag wheel.

Please see pics in post #1 and #69 in the thread belowBlown turbo

^^ I can't answer your question but I had first hand NEGATIVE experience with turbochargers.com. My buddy ordered a green from them and it was by far the worst fitment ever. I would order from BR or FP directly.

the mC tells you its a magnesium turbo with a large compressor cover.. this is a 70 series turbo that's prone to failure ..

charmama there's a 71 and 72 series used on the final few evo IX's .. those are the ones that lasts ..

That is the part no. on your turbo..
td05hra(Ti)-16g6mC(mag wif bigger comp housing)-10.5T (larger turbine outlet)

070xxxx is the series with the problems..
whether they just used the JDM housing without the mag wheel I don't know..

its 015*** it was 170 or 171 cant tell maybe its just the jdm housing with the different compressor wheel? no idea im geussing it is because it came from mitsubishi japan so they might have scratched the #'s off so that i wouldnt think it was the mag turbo.

but i mean look how shinny the compressor wheel is up above, thats def not mag. wheel they are orangish redish color

Like others have said, its an evo9 RS turbo with an aluminium wheel.

This is what the mag wheel looks like:

Oh yeh, the GSR and RS turbos both use the same size compressor housing.
