I personally have the AEM 5 bolt design and they work fine...i haven't tuned my car completely since i just had a clutch install and am still in the wear in process. hopefully we will see some results after fine tuning.

Well since he has a IX, both cam gears aren't the same obviously.

On the AEM cam gears the 5 bolt style is much better than the previous internal hex design.

My question was this: Since, IXs' have MIVEC, and can only be controlled electronically. Now, with that being said, on the exhaust cam, in what direction do I move the exhaust side, in order to shift the power band to the earlier RPM range? Can one benefit from using an exhaust cam gear on a IX? Are their proven results? I need more information to make an educated decision. Thank you.

There are many variables to try and answer that questions such as: turbo, cams.... The gears allow you to "dial in" the cams for more midrange or top end power for example by slightly "shifting" your power curve one direction or the other.

So, which way to get typically more midrange?

Two, it's just your intake cam gear is controlled electronically, and the exhaust cam gear is not.

The only one you can adjust mechanically is the exhaust cam gear, with an aftermarket adjustable cam gear. i.e. AEM, JUN, HKS, Skunk2...

The other is adjusted via ECUflash , or another engine software program of your choice.
