Ball Bearing Conversions

Does anyone in the U.S. do ball bearing conversions on turbos? I do road racing and am looking for a faster spool up. I have seen UK vendors that do it but would like to keep the work in the states. Currently have the stock turbo.

I would love to get this done also. I just want someone in the states to do it and not have to send it out of country!

The stocker spools extra fast. For the price of the ball bearing conversion, you might as well buy the TME.

Excellent question.

You can have a BB conversion done now, but only in the UK. In addition, it is very expensive. Does not seem to be anyone interested in providing this service on the US side of the pond. I have a spare IX turbo just waiting for someone to offer this service at a reasonable price.

It would seem to me that the US market for turbo cars would be way bigger than the islands.

How much is the TME and where are they avialable. I have also seem some with reliability and durability issues mentioned in the site. The ball bearing conversion reduces oil temps also, less friction.

I'm very sure if you contact Precision, Blouch, Turbonetic,.....they can do it. I think it's run about $500 or so for the BB conversion.

We were working with a USA company but the BB cores are special and have to be very small diameter to be used so the supply would still be expensive to the end user .

The EVO IX 1571 is the turbo to have for ultra fast spool and time to boost .We also just got our first EVO X turbo to look @ and we may have another wheel to work with very soon .

Also there is a new reverse rotation comp wheel and turbine wheel/shaft that will flow 360atw Dyno dynamics @ just 1.6 bar boost .

EVO400 is the one to call for this kind of setup. been thinking about buying a new turbo & doing the BB conversion + ported shroud until i can build a motor to run a larger turbo properly...

If you can get a Ball bearing core in the USA i would be more than happy to help out on a development unit in the first instance to get it to market . Its a shame the BB core is a hybrid unit and has a huge cost .

I've just came across a nice picture I've compared between the stock Evo8 Turbo (on the left) TME Turbo (middle) and the Turbo Dynamics BB (on the right).

What are some suppliers that could sell a bb catridge that would fit into the MAP EF4 turbo? Its a 9 turbo that has been modified but still uses thrust bearings.
Let me know please as this would be a worthwhile investment to me also since it would enable me to rebuild the turbo when it does fail.

Fine, if you want to ask if there is a turbo shop that sells BB cartridges for MAP turbos, or that can modify the JB EF4 to BB. These are legitimate questions. But, why the heck did you need to go and revive this defunct thread? You should have just started a new and separate topic.
