If you're not comfortable learning to tune yourself, then you can get help for short money from e-Tuners.
No reason for him to get a Walboro. The stock pump on the IX flows enough for the power capabilities of the stock turbo. Personally I would suggest an Ebay TBE. I have one and it's a 3inch exhaust just like any other and only costs $350 or so. That saves enough money for intercooler piping

If you need any help installing these items PM me. I have helped many Evo owners in the Atlanta area and would be happy to help you at no charge I just love working on my Evo and helping others do the same.
There is no need for him to add a downpipe to his list. As he states it appears he will be purchasing a full TBE-Turbo back exhaust.

I'd like to also add that you might want to keep some reserve cash for a clutch. With the extra power if your stock clutch is anything like mine it will go out shortly after the new found power.

Also, i'm running similar mods as you can see in my sig, also check out the megan tbe..i'm pretty sure you can get it for half the price of the AMS tbe, true 3 inch exhaust, save 500 bucks spend it elsewhere, any additional hp gains the AMS tbe has are not worth the extra 500 bucks...and believe me its a difference of a handful of whp at best
Yeah I was looking at the megan turbo back too. I know AMS is one of the top EVO tuners in the country and in my experience you get what you pay for. Not to say Megan's products aren't good by any means, it's just that I KNOW the AMS parts are top notch.

While the IX pump is better than the VIII, there's no reason NOT to do this simple, relatively cheap mod... it will keep your IDC's down to safe levels.

Even with a Walbro, I was exceeding 100% IDC @ 7000RPM and 21psi (at redline) with stock turbo, stock injectors, and 11.0 AFR... I can't imagine how lean it'd be with the stock pump

For 2k i'd do this...

Ebay tbe- 210 shipped
ebay 02- 100
mivec cams-650?
walboro-80$
Drop in filter- 90$
Boost gauge- 100$ (at most!)
MBC- 85
Tune-350?

Thats around 1600$. Add labor on top if you need.

save the rest for a clutch hahaha Or add meth if you want. Should be a beast.

Save the rest for when you'll need a clutch. hahaha

Why not ebay exhaust? Ive had mine for almost 6 months now & it is FANTASTIC! Had no problems & sounds amazing. I paid $265 shipped, but there going for $220 shipped now for full turbo-back. Thats right, downpipe, test pipe, mid pipe & catback. Plus the muffler is a true 3" design. No kneck downs anywhere, and no resonator. True straight through!

I don't understand why some people don't like to spend money on parts? Why would you spend 25-30K on a car and then put a $300 TBE on it? I guess I believe in giving my car the best (within reason). The parts I listed I would by for 2000K are pretty much top of the line. I can't justify spending money for generic ebay parts just to save a couple of bucks. I'd rather just save up a couple extra months for quality. Would you let someone on ebay tune your ride if they only charged you $100? Would you rock Addias with 2 stripes? Pay to play anyone?

You asked for input, and people gave it to you. Now you are complaining about the input you received. What do you want to hear? "Yeah man, you've got it nailed perfectly, perfect decision, I wouln't do anything different"?

"A couple extra bucks"? $265 vs. $1000 is more than a couple bucks, it's more than 3 times as expensive. Yes, AMS exhaust is one of the nicest available, and proven. It might perform better than the $265 TBE, but will it perform and fit 370% better? NO! I have an HKS exhaust, considered pretty damn nice for a Japanese exhaust, and I can honestly tell you, it really doesn't perform, fit, or look any better than the Megan exhausts, and costs an arm and a leg. I only have it because it came on the car when I bought it, so it was free, and my car has nice power because of it, so I am not changing it. If I were doing it all over again, I'd get whatever has been shown to fit and perform well for the lest amount of money. In the end, it's all stainless tubing that either flows higher than stock or not, and fits or not. There are cheap exhausts that have been proven to do both.
I could be wrong, and don't want to judge, but you sound like you are relatively new to modifying cars. There's nothing wrong with that and I won't hold it against you, but I also used to have an attitude of "only the best", which I also though meant expensive, and popped for pricey Blitz TBE, and in the end it performed just like my friend's Megan. Only difference was I spent 3X as much as him. Just being able to say it was a Blitz TBE wasn't worth THAT much. In the end, it comes down to how much performance gain per dollar I get now. Every $50 spent on my car I see as something that could go towards something else, so I choose and buy carefully.

Agreed. The mistu warranty is a joke. They never warrantied my car when it was stock in the first place when my clutch and tc failed.
