The springs in the disc are there to dampen torsional vibration which is often the noise Evo owners complain about as the coffee grinder sound. The vibration that the springs dampens are audible and not felt and not harmful to the transmission but more of an annoyance. Without the springs you are more likely to hear those noises, especially on deceleration.

The engagement is relatively the same between both versions. In addition the sprung disc is considerably heavier than the unsprung version and weighs even more than our street disc. So the unsprung version will allow faster shifts. The springs do very little to soften the engangement and that is more of a misconception than a truth. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I just bought the 6 puck sprung with the xtreme pressure plate. Should be here next week. I got a buddy thats running it right now and loves the heck out of it. Im making over 500 ft lbs trq. I need something strong but dont wont to fork out gobs of money for a clutch. The clutch I had before was the xtss and it was a great setup held for about 2 years making the power i do.

That sounds more like improper pedal adjustment....

I hot the hdss 6 puck sprung. took awile to get used to the 6 puck bighting on the get go, but relly like it. It holds strong no slipping problems. If you going 30r you might want something to hold a little more power. but it would last for a while and hold good.
