ACT 6 puck sprung or unsprung?

I am about to order a 6 puck but can't decide if I should get the sprung or unsprung. Pros and cons would be good.

go sprung! I am currently running it in my act hdss. The sprung will be a little bit smoother engagement and less stress on the drivline. Either way the 6puck is going to be a little rugher on engagment. Good luck

6 puck sprung - less noise on deceleration because of the springs, virtually the same harsh engagement as the solid hub version (friction material unchanged between the two discs), more weight = slower shifting compared to the solid hub version because of the extra parts and it will cost more because of the additional parts to build compared to the solid hub version.

6 puck solid - the opposite of what I have listed above the sprung version.

So just noise is the benefit of the sprung? I would rather shift faster. The site says smoother shifting on the sprung but I guess you said it doesn't.

That is correct, the primary reason the springs are on any disc is to eliminate torsional vibration or the coffee grinder sound that people complain about (the site also says that too). Per my other post both discs will offer "virtually the same harsh engagement".

I am pretty sure the noise wont bother me. I am more concerned about the shifting.

go w/ the sprung 6 puck, I have the ACT HD w/ sprung 6 puck and love it. Its not the most fun setup to drive, but it holds the power. I have a friend who has the ACT street setup and its not as stiff and a little better drivability.

One other benefit of the spring center is the the disc splines will last longer since the springs dampen out the pulses, so don't expect to get high mileage on a solid center disc.

Have you considered looking at spec clutches they have some pretty nice clutches.

I wouldn't consider an unsprung clutch for a daily-driven street car.
