I don't wanna use the old fashion way of mallet and screwdriver. I'll be getting a press for this, so do you think this is sufficient or is it too flimsy?

if you don't already have it then take it to a shop. Will be much cheaper. $10 probably

I'll be doing it at a friends, who's planning on pressing his out too. We don't wanna run to a shop in the middle of having our cars apart.

Not really that big of a job. I know there a lot of close by shops in orlando. It's your money though.

I understand. We are lazy, and would rather do it all in one place. Anyone know if a 1 ton press will do the job?

I found it easier to use a hacksaw and cut through the outer metal sleeve of the OEM mount and then press it out. Otherwise it is very difficult. You actually don't really need a press for this method.

If the new mount is Poly with no metal sleeve it can be pressed in with a vise. If it is like the Ralliart mount I would put it in a freezer for awhile (to shrink it a bit) and then press it in. I did mine with a 12 ton harborfreight press no prob. You may need your own attachments (the plumbing section at Home Depot is decent for this).

HTH,

John

So no one knows if 1 ton is enough to do this job?

So I did the install today and confirmed 1 ton is not enough like you guys said. It was still put to use though. We used the hacksaw to hammer/chisel into 1ton press method and it worked fine.

Right now I only have the passenger side motor mount in, since we wanted to test it on the easiest one to remove. I have the Powerflex mounts for the sides and a Buschur one for the front, but wanna order a Powerflex for the front. The Powerflex ones don't feel as rock hard as the Buschur one and it seems easier press in. I want them stiff, but not Buschur stiff. Results?...It does transmit more noise into the cabin at idle than the Engall's Stiffy Torque Dampener I had in there. You can especially feel it through the pedals. It sounds like the noise a poorly designed downpipe makes when it rubs up on something...but only at idle and at take-off. It has the same amount of steering wheel vibration as the stiffy did. The number one difference is that (even with just one side mount in) I no longer have that annoying shifting backlash (you know when you shift and it's not at the perfect matching rpm into the next gear?) The stiffy reduced that backlash, but not all the way. This one Powerflex side mount nearly eliminated that and the backlash that occurs when you let off the gas or get on it suddenly. I'm excited to finish the install of both my sides and the front. I've read many threads where you don't wanna touch the rear mount, cuz that one makes the car vibrate to hell.

On the tools note this one should be able to do it.
