These are a 1 stage colder plug.

You should do a search, you will not go wrong with OEM plugs, downside is they are like 19 bucks each.

Stock heat range for the EVO9 is a 7range plug. Should be gapped to .020-.022. Make sure you are using EVO9 plugs and not EVO8 plugs, they are not interchangeable.

Do you have a tune?

Maybe the gas sitting in the tank lost some of its points? Causing it to be **** gas, & causing your problems?

YES, you can buy a box of 4 "one-step colder" plugs for a IX from ExtremePSI. Also stated above the general rule is 100whp = 1 step colder good luck!

I didn't have to gap my Iridiums but I did check them with a feeler gauge.

Yeh i had the same problem with my evo 6. Just as the turbo started to kick in on full throttle my car missed and backfired. I took it to a mechanic who said the problem was definately the plugs and nothing else. He tried to get ngk platinum spark plugs without the resistor bit to give a better stronger spark as well as setting the gap right.

I always check the gap before my plugs go in. Never assume. Gap for stock plugs I thought was .028-.030??

Put the stock wires back on. Do a search for Magnecor and you will find that tons of people have had problems with them.

They claimed to be properly gapped. But I checked all of them just to be sure

I bought them from sparkplugs.com - You have to search directly for the model number, because only the IKH22s come up when you search by car.

OEM plugs are good to 60,000 miles (says in manual)

I changed mine recently at 40,000 miles with the BRP7es and I think I also got like a boost flutter when I floored it under 3500rpms in a higher gear at slow speeds, but it went away and car has been running fine....
