I would go back to Jiffy Lube and confront them about what happened and have them put in some new Mobil 1 and see if the lifter ticking goes away. I don't know if damage was done unless you could physically examine the lifters and cam lobes.

If you overfilled it, there can be some foam inside the lifters. usually they advise you to run the engine up to 3000rpm for a few minutes and see if it goes away. use mobil 1 10W/30 weight if it was not the oil used. some soft ticking is normal in these cars with hydraulic lifters.

Im pretty sure the ticking is normal mine is pretty loud Im at 45,000 miles.

I wouldnt worry about their oil, their synthetic is fine I've used it a couple times, but thats when I was a n00b now I change it myself and only use Mobil 1.

You sure they used synthetic right? Pennzoil owns Jiffy Lube if I'm correct...Pennzoil sponsors nascar ...

You take your old oil to almost any chain autoparts store (autozone, discount auto parts, NAPA) and they will let you dump in in a big can they have in the back for free. Sort of a ploy to get you to go in there and mabye buy some more stuff?? Anyway, I wouldnt rule out your lifters, but I agree it is unlikely. I would bet that they overfilled your engine, then had to drain off a decent amount perhaps. You got the oil changed after the ticking started and it still ticks?? If not change your oil again, and be sure to fill the proper amount. (also be sure the crush washer is on the plug because those places are notorious for not re-installing a new one)

Watch this short clip,

does it sound like that? The ticks increase in frequency with increasing engine revolutions? I bet it does. Might need to bleed your lifters. I wouldnt be too concerned about it, but I would take it easy on the car till it is fixed.

Since your're in the L.A. area, Pep Boys will allow you to dump your oil with them. To be honest with you you should do your own oil change. As you've seen it's one of the easiest things to do on your own car.

Jiffy Lube? wtf were you thinking........its so easy to change the oil in these cars, you don't even break a sweat.

Well all I can say is at least you didn't get your drivetrain fluids changed there - I heard of someone that did, im waiting to hear if they have had any problems yet. They also didn't take there own fluids, let Jiffy use what they had

Yeah it sounds like that and after 3000rpms it goes away, anything below 3000rpm it ticks with a constant pattern... Even with JAM lifters I will still need to bleed them??? Have they collapsed???

Not sure about that brand of lifters but TT told me that it pretty much does not matter what lifters you use because they will end up ticking sooner or later. Good luck.
