Similar setups have been well tested in the drag motorcycle world and are used on many top teams, so the concept is well accepted as effective.

It looks like the Evo version invented by Indy required a little more in the way of testing and development, now accomplished by Magnus Motorsports, and the final tweeking issues are being worked out now at the track.

Indy, great idea. Keep us up to date on the progress and let us know when they're ready to go out the door.

co vr4, being a cheerleader is fine but I feel should require having some experience with something...............not just jumping in any thread Indy or Tom posts in and cheering. That seems to be your SOP over the last few months.

No **** it's been used on motorcycles and other applications but the key word in your post was "similar". Fact is on the EVO/DSM is DID NOT WORK.

The EVO and DSM both use a restrictor in the clutch slave cylinder, this restrictor has a small hole in it and is there to dampen the effect of dropping the clutch. The valve that was being used in the launch control kit did not have fine enough control to work. It either did nothing or one click later restricted too much. There was no in between.

Maybe there have been changes but the referece to lack of testing pissed me off as that was not the case. The other possibility is Marco is seeing the same thing we were, seemed to work great until we tried to get an actual smooth release of the clutch and "slow" release, that is when we found it would not work like it was suppose to work.

Dave,

Please reread what I said, carefully. Without trying to find a way to take personal offense where none was given.

I said:

Similar setups have been well tested in the drag motorcycle world and are used on many top teams, so the concept is well accepted as effective.

It looks like the Evo version invented by Indy required a little more in the way of testing and development, now accomplished by Magnus Motorsports, and the final tweeking issues are being worked out now at the track.

So, to summarize (1) the CONCEPT is effective; and (2) the launch controller apparently has received more testing and development or tweaking and now works as intended. Every new product has a development path. So, apparently, did this one. Why would those observations get you upset?

Do I think Indy and Tom are exceedingly smart and very experienced guys who have come up with hordes of good ideas? Yep, sure do. Most of this entire board would agree with me on that one. Does seeing what's obvious about their good ideas make me a cheerleader? Of course not.

When Marco tested it, was he able to get this product to slowly ride out the clutch on a launch?

Simple question.

Indy, are you running this product on your car?

Not yet 03, but with the steep learning curve on the QM I'll be installing and testing it after the US Nationals. The results will be posted on 9sec9.com as this is Al's thread.

Cool.

I figured if you believed in it, you'd run it sooner or later. I'm excited to see how it works with the quarter master.

I put my QM in this weekend. They did an awesome job on the throwout bearing system. Fits so perfect and meets the specified initial clearance right out of the box, no shims needed.

I can't speak for Al but I am fairly certain he won't mind you discussing anything in here, you already jumped in so you may as well ride it out now.

Is this thing still dead? I know Marco sells this thing still but I haven't seen any documented results.
