So wait.... If the dealership was doing it under warranty, why did you have to pay 475 for the stock exhaust, or I'm reading this wrong?
I have 51K and some change on my car... they said they would fix the cat for free, and there will be no diag charge.. I was F***** surprised... I give them the car to change the cat, and they call me and tell me that the whole exhaust is messed up (the welding is pretty bad)... and they can not put the cat back on this exhaust, and it is not under warranty because I went over 50K miles...
I did not get theirs exhaust, I called Buschur and ordered his, but I think they will have to instal it, since the car is sitting at theirs lot, and I can not drive it without the exhaust. I think they are ripping me off.. this all seems like one nice planed out scam...

I would drive it home without a cat.

Then install the BR exhaust myself.

Just my .02

I just called them, and spoke with service manager, and the story goes that I can start the car, but if i drive it I will cause more damage...

You will not damage your car driving it without a cat.

They want your money.

Again, just my .02.

In that case tell them to return the car back to the original state as it was when you brought it in, then take it home to install the Buschur exhaust yourself when it comes in. They told you it will be fixed, if it wasnt under warrenty they should have never touched it, period!

They are screwing you.

they cant put the cat in old state, because of the exhust... this is one big screw up...\
they took the cat off, f**** up exhust, they cant put it togetner now, and now I have to pay...
who else says that I can drive car without cat and exhust, and not make more demage.. If I get few more people, I'll go and pick it up..

The point of that argument to return to the previous state is to get them to fix it up for free. If they said its under warrenty then take it apart and say otherwise, they are liable for returning it back to the same state as you turned it in to them.

So in otherwords use this as an excuse to have them put in the buschur exhaust for free (labor). Tell them as bad of a condition the car exhaust might have been, it still was on the car and driveable. PERIOD

I'd probably fight to get a free stock exhaust put on. Then you can take it home and bolt on the TBE.

Remember it was all on the car and drive able untill they touched it and put it in the current state. As bad as it may have been its was still driveable, but now according to them you cant drive with an open downpipe. Tell them return the car back to the previous state or put on the new parts all warrantied. If not, bluff with getting a lawyer or actually get one.

Even if they decide to give it back with open downpipe, use that against them with the emissions law. Remind them that by that they are telling you to break the law and bluff with more legal action etc...

F*** them up just like they tried to f*** you.

Good luck,

Just make sure they dont try to screw you with some sort of storage/parking fee for leaving your car there.

I would go to the dealership and have them put your car on the lift and ask them to physically show you all the "bad welds". I think this sounds a little sketchy, and if they are telling the truth then no harm no foul, but this way you will know if their full of ****. I think your car would be fine to drive without the cat, but just stay out of the throttle to be on the safe side.

I would flip if they added that, than I would really get into "broken exhust" topic.. If they charge me for parking, than labor will definitely be free..

It was sketchy from the beginning... I'm kinda nice guy and dont complain a lot, and that S*** dont work around here... I can be A** too, but i dont wanna f*** someone's day up (usually).. I will check the pictures and exhust tommorow, they didnt work on saturday, I would've done it than... My younger brother wants to buy a new car around 20K so I kinda got him into new lancer.. we can work some deal up than... new lancer and no charge at all kinda a deal.. hahaha...
