Isn't Twin Disk an over kill for cars with HP in the range of 300 - 350?

It's about time for me to change out my clutch as well, but I'm pondering on what clutch system to get. I don't feel the need to get Twin disk because my isn't even in the 300 whp area. Any suggestion?

Well I can name 2 friends with ACT clutches who after driving my car, both said they are deffinately getting Exedy the second time around. Dan Buschur didn't have anything pleasent to say about them.

I know it wasnt the clutch install, we did the install ourself. And mine was done shortly after his, mine is perfect with NO problems and his had nothing but.

The HD would probly be an overkill, it depends on what you plan to do to it. Better to be safe up front, then have to do it all twice. Exedy also has a Standard Duty.

In my case, I will probly be upgrading my HD Twin to a Exedy Tripple with a rebuild kit, or selling it and going with a Tilton Tripple when the Exedy I have finally goes. (hopefully not for a while!)

Well my current mods are Tomei elbow and downpipe, exhaust, LICP & UICP, fuel pump and I'm going to get a tune in the near future. For me that'll be enough power. Do you guys think that the Exedy Organic Clutch Kit is good enough?

The ACT clutch is fine for people making less than 500whp; I ran their HDSS for 35k miles w/ many lauches and it has held fine. I'm replacing it w/ the Xtreme since I liked it so much. Lock out is overrated and easily fixed by adjusting the adjustment rod.

I feel like if I have to mention that clutches are rated by tq and not hp or WHP one more time I am going to snap. lol

The XTSS is rated at 567 ft/lbs and the XT puck clutches are rated at 726 ft/lbs!!!! Please find me an evo with 726 ft/lbs of tq. It is almost impossible.

i have this clutch with the gruppe-s lightened flywheel. the clutch works great, kinda heavy pedal. I do not drive the car daily so it is fine with me. The car has also seen a great deal of launches and still no trouble, but you better get ready for the clutch chatter. it is unreal, on decel(engine braking)

I've driven both the exedy twin plate and the ACT HDSS and I liked the way the ACT felt compared to the Exedy, but I'm sure the Exedy can take more of a beating and last longer. I drove the ACT a little longer than the Exedy, So I am guessing it takes awhile to get used to how hard the pedal feels over stock or after driving a crx around all day. If I were getting one I'd definitely fork over the money, and get a Exedy twin plate since it felt like it could handle alot more torque.

Wow, that sucks. Mine is a daily driver so having a heavy clutch pedal and clutch chatter kinda sucks.

My experience like I said broke down....

ACT Street disc regular pressure plate-30k miles, then 10k more miles at 509whp, STILL NOT SLIPPING.

Put an exedy twin in thinking its about due for a new clutch, everyone recommended them to me so I went for it expecting an awesome clutch, the twin disc held up for 10k miles before the discs were shot when I was installing my motor.

Im currently on Xtreme PP and 6 puck. I dont think ill buy an exedy after spending $1500 on a clutch that lasted 10k and wasnt tracked.

The act made 30-40 track passes and daily driven.

6 puck sprung here, no real complaints. Its a little tricky to get used to driving as it is quite grabby. I have about 8k hard miles on it so far, and its seen about 15 launches without a hint of slip.
