boost problems

I just installed an autometer boost gauge. it is reading only max 12psi in all gears. I checked all clamps on the intake, the dv connections, etc. The only other mod is an RMR intake. I tapped into the same line as the DEFI gauge install on another post. Any suggestions? COuld it be the i.c. connections? Do I need to reset the ecu? please help!

If you've check for line leaks, then the only thing I can think of is maybe the boost gauge itself leaks.

Where exactly did you tap for the vacuum source?

I tapped into the hose right to the left of the oil dipstick (FPR?) The hose has a spiral hard plastic covering coiling around it. Is there another hose that will give a more accurate reading?

Problem Solved! I went down the street to RMR and popped my hood--30 seconds later the problem was fixed. Eric and I think Rhys(aussie accent?) saw that there was a black ziptie under my rmr filter that was pinching my factory boost control hose. The black ziptie came factory; but I did not see it pinching any lines.

That would explain my mid to high 14 second quarter mile times. The car pulls a ton harder now. The weather is about 85+ degrees and my boost gauge reads 16-17psi right now hopefully tonight when it cools down I will see close to 19 peak.

Thanks RMR!

So you really were doing only 12 psi. You have to love those quick fixes.

Something is not right on your car cuz my car BOOST to 19 PSI
everyday. Even on a hot day 90 something degrees with my A/C on boost gauge still reads 19 then drop to 16.

I have a friend thats experiencing similar problems on his evo 6 gsr. The car maxes out at 7 PSI in all gears. We checked all the hoses and clamps, No boost leaks, we checked the boost selenoid, checked the turbo, and everything seems to be in order. I really need some help on this. What u guys think might be the problem ???.

Thanx

Jason

I had the dealer install my boost guage this past Saturday. After picking up the car, I noticed I was also only boosting 7 psi. I went through the dealer's install only to notice that those morons installed the guage wrong. They pulled vacuum off the wastegate. I rerouted the lines, pulled vacuum off the FPR, tightened all the intercooler hoses, and now, i'm boosting 1.4 kg/cm2 in 1-3 gear and 1.5 kg/cm2 in 4-5 gears...
