JIC DP vs HKS DP

So I've been looking at the prices for these two downpipes - why is the HKS one so much more than the JIC one?

I know the HKS one is 65mm which is about 2.6inch, and the JIC is 60mm which is about 2.4inch... will those 0.2 inches justify nearly $200?? Also, is the reason they make ~2.5 inch DP's to retain the torque, as opposed to using a 3 inch DP which would increase hp at the expense of torque?

Have you seen both up close yet?

The diamter will give quicker spool on the stock turbo...I ahve yet to see a JDM downpipe more than 2.6 inches

Nope, haven't seen them... is JIC intending on making a 2.6" DP anytime soon? I heard about either that or a 3", but I'm not sure.. I'd like to get a catback JIC but the place I wanna get it from currently does not have the HKS DP in stock..

How much are you selling the JIC catback with titanium exhaust for? and the HKS downpipe too, of course.

Hm, so have we dispersed the truth regarding 2.5" and 3.0" DP's yet? or is this just one of those things that'll never be solved

What do you mean truth? A full 3" gives better flow, and higher hp. The 2.5" dp will theoretically give you better torque down low, but sacrifices some hp up top. Hope that answers your question.

I just got my HKS downpipe in the mail from Z1 performance. Z1 has great service and is very fast compared to others i have delt with. The downpipe is beastly, top of the line guality with thick flanges and comes with a gasket to get a tight fit against the cat. I got a AMS catback on the way, hope that is as great quality as the HKS dp.

How loud are the JIC Ti exhausts compared to others like RMR and Vishnu?

65mm:
HKS www.hks-power.co.jp
Apex'i www.apexi.co.jp (65mm to 70mm, Evo VII, VIII unconfirmed)

70mm:
Fujitsubo www.fujitsubo.co.jp
Mine's www.mines-wave.com

75mm:
JSpeed (Marche) www.cs-marche.com (Evo VII, VIII unconfirmed)

80mm:
Cruise www.cruise-power.co.jp (Evo VII; VIII unconfirmed)

My personal favorite? Mache's high power front pipe. This unit is basically the downpipe AND turbo outlet constructed in one piece. 75mm (circa 3"), good enough for me.
