loud knocking on engine acceleration

UPDATE: calling JAM in the morning

well im getting fed up with my car

i recently replaced the head-gasket and installed HKS 264 I/E cams and now i have a problem

When i have the car in neutral and i rev the engine by pushing the throttle i get a very loud mechanical knocking sound. I thought i had collapsed a lifter but i just installed the JAM lifters and the noise is still there.

it does not make the sound when idling or when the throttle is slowly pushed. It only makes the noise on quick engine revs.

any ideas?

mods:
evo 9 turbo
LICP
HKS 264 cams
ported manifold
buschur TBE
hallman MBC

knocking is common on aftermarket camshafts, but this doesn't seem like the case

I wouldnt even turn it over. Could mean the difference from having to replace the whole oil system or even block as well as everything else or not

I would have to agree. Most likely a spun bearing. The less you run it at this point the better you are. How long have you been running it with this noise? PM me maybe we can work out a deal.

if it was a spun bearing it would've started life as a small clicking sound prolly atleast thats how mine did, i never let it get to knocking.

It might have just progressed from small click to rod knock and thats when you noticed it.
