It's less expensive w/o a doubt. I'm liking the rnr exhaust myself http://www.rnrracing.com/cgi-bin/ccp5/cp-app.pl

It's actually a lot better than 3" piping w/ a magnaflow muffler. I don't know why people think Magnaflow sucks. A lot of tuners and exhausts use their mufflers. I think the Vishnu and the Ultimate Racing exhaust have a great sound thanks to their Magnaflow mufflers.

If you don't want the modular catalyst section, V-Band clamps, or CNC-cut flanges, then maybe look at the non-signature series turbo back exhaust and save some money.

If you want to spend less then look into other tuners such as RNR, Buschur, JDM companies, etc.

Hi,
That's a picture of our signature cat-back exhaust which costs $795. For the $1450 you quoted, you also get a removable free-flow cat and a downpipe (equipped with transfer case bracket and flex joint). If that's too pricey for some folks, we do offer a non-sig. turbo-back which is like the above (without V-bands or removable cat) but with a dual dump o2 housing and resonator. This costs $1150.

Cheers,
shiv

Do you also provide a test pipe?

I didn't get the impression that anybody thought Magnaflow sucks, I for one don't. I always used Borla on previous cars, but that's another story. I think he was just pointing out that a universal part was used in the Vishnu exhaust.

Magnaflow is a "great" product It however is not commensurate with the $1450 price tag (I was previously speaking about the muffler and high flow cat portion of the Vishnu turbo back exhaust) - IMO. I know Vishnu makes excellent stuff for the Evo but flanges, 3" mandrel bent SS pipe, magnaflow muffler and high-flow cat just seems a little pricey...

A Turbo Back (DP, Highflow Cat, Cat Back) will pass because the catalytic converter has not been removed... Remove the cat and then you fail.

Yes, we do. Our first batch is coming out within the next 2 weeks.

Again, $1450 buys you the entire cat-back, downpipe section and cat-section. Sounds like you are referring to the cat-back and the free flow cat which is only 2/3s of the entire $1450 exhaust system you're talking about.

I've seen them close up... they're really sweet.

Magnaflow give a nice, deep throaty sound, not a high pitch whine, like the canon exhausts.

I'd like to see this product for the O-Z, unfortunately, Shiv has no plans to produce them for "regular" Lancers... ho hum.

i read somewhere in these forums that the sig series requires the addition of spacers to move down something to fit the pipe...is that true?

most of the 3" down pipes require a spacer between the rear (furthest back) front subframe connector and the subframe. I think the rmr does not but it also has more bends to clear the connector.

The downpipe for the signature series comes with spacers so the stock tie bars can clear. You can see the spacers here:
