Installed my 3" QTP Electric Cutout - Pics & Video

The state police don't take too well to the loud Helix catback I've had for a while... My best option at this point was to put the stock catback on and get an electric cutout of some sort.

The QTP downpipe is a nice piece, but I already had & loved my Helix. Rather than spend the $450 to swap for the QTP piece, I ordered just the 3" electric cutout and a 3" stainless y-pipe from eBay for a total of $200.

I had the flanges cut off my test pipe and welded to the QTP piece, thus creating the perfect solution!

I'm extremely happy with the result, and it really is whisper quiet until it opens up

The cutout flange goes about 0.5" lower than the other flanges... it should be fine

Correct

That is an optional accessory. The cutout comes with a rocker switch that you have to hold it in one direction to open and hold it in the other direction to close. It takes about 5 seconds.

The controller is an option which does that all for you, so you don't have to hold the switch. It also shows what percent open/closed the cutout is.

Finally somebody thinking instead of just spending. BTW that y pipe is made by QTP. Anyway, nice job. It sounds great right? For the best performance gains you would locate it as close to the turbo as possible. I can feel a real difference with mine open. No doubt.

Even if you had a cat and stock muffler and tell them you only open it for track racing? Da Man is tough in Ca. Sorry.

Ha yeah. Cops don't wanna see anything that isn't completely stock. Numerous people get rolled here for Stock Exhaust and Stock wing. Even for the license place mounted on the side cops raise their brows.
