Whats up fellas,

I know a few of you were waiting on Haward and Scott to release a catback for the E8, and from the look sof this: link they have one and it put all the rest to shame on the dyno.

Just wanted to see if anyone had one yet and if so what they thought.

Don't have one yet. Rallyperformance is expecting their first shipment from H&S. (for our USDM EVO)

Stay tune for further notice.

A group buy is in the talk.

Nice. I hope I land another job by the time the group buy comes around... damn IT market.

I know it seems pricey compared to some of the other exhausts out there but I like there philosophy. The system seems to be based more on tuned length than the biger is better mentality that we seem to fall into from time to time.

Wow, that is expensive. I don't see it the reason behind the price.

Ours is fully hand built also, right down to the mufflers also. Specifically for this car. It is also almost have the price. Ours weighs in at only 24 pounds for the entire system and from what I can tell by their picture will outflow theirs. What's with keeping the huge bend after the axle? That is just not the best way of doing it.

Just my opinion,

I hear ya David, It is expensive but the dyno plot that was floating around showed some real impresive torque gains and my evo is my daily driver so I'm looking for maximum area under the curve (both torque and hp) as well as an exhaust note that is close to stock.

I mainly wanted to see if anyone had one state side yet and if they did a before and after dyno run. It could turn out that the dyno plot I saw was a ringer (as in they also added a few other things aside from the catback).

They did mention that the cat back section is 2.5" while the downpipe section (not sure where they bolt up) was close to 5" so it seems they are going with a tuned length decreaseing diameter system to keep the gas velocity up as it cools but I don't know for sure. ONly they Dyno can say for sure if it's worth the money or not.

One thing I thought about was getting your turbo back setup (don't remember if you have a 3"cat available or not) and having an extra can added somewhere between the cat and the existing can. Or maybee replaceing the can you use with a borla x1r, but those may be too loud for my taste, cant say caue I've never heard one on a turbo car.

I'm willing to bet borla's catback turns out to look just like yours but with a borla x1r can on the end. and another $150 added to the price

David,
Can you get just your cat-back exhaust pipe w/out the muffler? I want a toned down muffler but like your piping.

Looks like an interesting alternative, albeit a fairly expensive one. The companies history with Evo's and turbo engines makes it sound like they know their $h#T when it comes to producing a "tuned" exhaust though!

You know we are really fortunate to have so many tuners like Buschur, Vishnu, Works, AMS, Pruven, Ultimate, etc, etc.... focusing so much attention on the EVOVIII. Each tuner has something positive to bring to the table, and although each is primarily focused on making our cars faster, each tends to be geared towards different types of customers.

Lucky us, is all I can say! I remember owning a Yamaha engined Taurus SHO back in 91 and wishing there were decent tuning solutions, but having very little available.

BTW - Whos Rallyperformance? website?

Werd man, my last project was a contour... some of the same vendors like sho shop but in general there was maybee one or two vendors for most stuff... several catbacks but only two headers MSDS and SHM (shawn highland) that thing was a pain to find parts for...

We are VERY lucky to have so many choices so soon in the game

From the pictures it looks like all of the exhaust flow tuning is done in the downpipe where it constricts. After that it looks like 2 1/2 in tubing to the almost $600 axle back. Looks like you could keep your Evos 2 1/2 pipe from the cat back buy the DP for $393 add HF Cat or test pipe and get an axle back for much less and get the same result. $750 or less.

Maybe some US tuner should try building a DP like the HS and stick it on the dyno, if it makes more torque/hp than strait 3 in people will be interested. More torque is just as important to me as hp.

this sounds like a bunch of BS... If your going to mod, get the biggest piping possible the whole way out... Look at the 1000hp supras out there...4in piping the whole way... Maybe if you want just an exhaust with your car, this HS setup may give your more torque... But who just wants an exhaust!

That is true for top end max hp but not necessarily for torque, midrange. Some 2.0 WRC cars make only 300hp but almost 500 ft lbs of torque.

How do they do that with a 2.0 anyway? I know they have restrictor plates to minimize hp but how do they get all that torque?

Where in the world did you get that information from about 300hp and 500lb torque from a 2.0 motor WRC cars? Do you have a link?

Here is Subaru 435 ft lbs, I'm pretty sure Pugeot has close to 500.

Here is another saying 600 ft lbs with 300 hp
