I'm not sure you'd see much of any gain going from an S2 to an S3 on a stock turbo, but you might lose a bunch on the bottom.
always taking it to a technical stand point.. i just say dont do it.. you give out the why's..

martin what do these numbers do for you?

268 11.00mm 212
268 10.80mm 212

274 11.5mm 230
274 11.5mm 230

280 12mm 240

if you dont mind spending the extra cash on your valve train and your a drag racer then go for it. you're going to give up some spool time but will see some gains on the top end.. if you are an autocross guy or street car guy who doesnt want to run upgraded springs then the S1s are awesome. we designed them on the factory spring to give nothing but gains across the entire rpm band... which they do and have been proven time and time again...

I dont autocross but do a lot of drag racing, are the top end gains worth the loss down low?

Ohhh are these R1's for evo IX applications? They look to be a tad more aggressive over the S1's. Hows the idle on those R1's with the added lift & duration? I wouldn't mind something a tad more than the S1's.

Also seems like everyone got thier answer on the S3's.

Chris' car is not "down" 30 ft lbs. His car is still 30 ft lbs up from where it was last dyno because of the bigger cams. The problem with that car is not cams, its the WG is not tight enough and probably wasnt tight enough last time either (preload). With the MBC all the way to max to still only made 24-25psi. The car could take an easy 26psi spike and pick up most of the torque its "down". It might even be able to handle a little more in fact.

The Kelfords C cams or the GSC S3 arent substantially bigger (advertised at 280's) for the IX like they are the VIII. Alot of cam tech can be applied from domestic engine theory directly to what we are dealing with.
The tq on Chris' car is "short" on torque buddy.
