Turbo break in?

I just recently had a FP Green along with HKS 272's, headstuds, inj, etc. installed and the shop that installed it is suggesting I give it a tank of gas to break the new turbo in before they give it a full road tune and crank the boost up (currently running a good "flash" for the injectors and cams and 14psi of boost). They've been dealing with DSM's and Evos for quite a while and respect their opinion, but I'm getting anxious to really push it . I've also never really heard of a break in time for the turbo. Opinions anyone?

I'd give it 200 miles which is about a tank of gas. Better safe than sorry???

To be honest, I think EVERYTHING on a car could have a break in period. But anything that has oil flowing through it generally requires a break in period.

Yes not to mention your cams also need a correct break in time. Actually 200 miles is kinda low I think.

+1...I've always heard 500 miles on new cams to be safe.

Sounds good. I'm actually a very easy driver. My own GF calls me a puss for the way I drive my car . I guess I just want to go ahead and get my tune because I already paid for it and want to make sure nothing happens and I end up getting ripped off. I don't think this shop would do it. It's just happened to me before.

ive never broken in a turbo when ive upgraded. however after i install a new turbo i crank the engine over without fuel in order to build oil pressure and provide oil to the turbo.

a lot of damage can be done to a turbo if you dont prime it with oil and you turn the car on

Yea i've never heard of breaking in the turbo or cams.

I've done 3 upgrades and i just install and go, no problems thus far. I too prime the turbo with the spark plug wires out.
