so here is the story,

I bought my evo 1 year ago used and its been nothing buy problems, the kid that had it before me failed to mention a few things about the car when i bought it from him (f**kin d-bag). It drove fine for a few thousand miles before the problems started occurring.

fast forward to today:

I recently spun a rod bearing and am in the process of pulling the engine as im typing this. anyway i look at the vin number on the side of the block and it dosent match the cars vin (no surprise, i had my suspicions that the block was changed). anyway i decide to run a carfax on it and it turns out its from an evo 9!!!!!! so all this time ive been running an evo 8 head and an evo 9 block.

Im sending my engine out to be built and i was wondering if anyone knew if any extra machine work is needed to use this block with my head. ive read that there is an extra oil passage with the evo 9 or something along those lines. has anyone done this before?

The only difference I know of is they converted the factory oil pressure gauge port of the 8 to feed the MIVEC to make the block work with the 9 head.

To get a 9 block to work on an 8 you would need to make an adapter to get the OP sending unit to screw to the MIVEC port.

Or you could buy a IX head and run MIVEC.

Not sure that would be cost effective.

for the mivix conversion it would be alot of work for all the wiring necessary finding the head, cams, cam gears, solenoids, and evo 9 ecu.... not so much the trouble finding the parts but the trouble making them work

works 100% all you need to do is get an adapter to screw in the oil pressure sensor.

use an 8 HG
