It seems that your mechanic covered all of the basics. I would lean towards an electrical issue.

You might want to check your bov to see if it is leaking. I bought a Synapse Bov b/c my HKS SSQV broke on me. So I just installed it. I was wondering why the BOV was releasing air out of it at idle. I had the same issue with it wanting to stall and had a rough idle. When I pushed on the gas it would make a really strange noise like my engine was blown. Come to find out that the BOV has to be re-circulated in order to work.

Its just a thought ^

Well my car is ready to go, the dealer called me this evening.

They said "the tube to your BOV popped off...And we also had to change out a sparkplug."

It makes no sense, that was one of the first things we checked...Also, is that common practice for them to change out only one sparkplug? Something sounds fishy to me..

any codes thrown?

Had an issue like this on a car and the front 02 was bad and also a crank sensor.

No codes thrown from whatever the problem was, it only threw a code when we unplugged the MAF sensor to see if the idle would change. I guess we'll never know at this point, I have a feeling the dealer is simply trying to cover up for their goof up since I just got my car back less than two days before I had this problem.

That doesnt sound rite. After checking your bov and all that stuff, Id think you would have noticed the hose had popped off.

If the car was sucking in unmetered air at idle would it go like crazy lean?

this fix by the dealer isn't making sense to me.
