50 trim only able to hold 23psi to redline?
I cant get my 50 trim to hold more than 23psi. It gets up to about 28psi (im running meth) and then drops down to 22-23psi at redline. Its a stock head, with a 264/272 cam setup. Im really thinking i have a boost leak, but i need to get ahold of a boost leak tester.
Aaron that BOV will leak past like 24|25PSI. He has the APS duel vent.
If you search you can find a few threads of how people used teflon tape to fix the leak and then they valve would hold 30-31PSI.
Its prob that for sure

Doesnt matter how many miles he has on it, I am talking about what color spring he has in the gate. If he doesnt have a big blue spring or something similar via 2 springs (big & small) he wont be able to hold more than that. I had a 50trim with a 44mm wastagate, I changed springs and all that was fixed. Its all in the owners choice, I used 2 blue springs and it DID help with the boost being held more consistently. Also those APS have some adjusting properties if Im not mistaken, I've seen 500whp cars using it no problems and trapping over 135mph.
Well I still say its not the gate. this kit was used on a 2.3L turbotrix motor running meth and was making 476/474 for a while a little bit of time before it went into this car.
I still say it is the BOV. there is no need to sell it and buy a new one either Aaron there are Fixes for a leaky APS duel port valve to make them hold up near 30PSI. the factory state of the aps it WILL leak after 24PSI. But there are many people using them in higher HP cars because they teflon tape the inner side of the vac nipple and it prevents the leak at that point till around 30--31PSI so that is how HIgher HP guys use them still. Like I said Aaron just search around about the leaky APS fix threads and youll find it and beable to atleast rule the BOV out (most likely fix your leak too)

Boost leak test takes all of ten minutes. Making a tester takes about an hour and $20. I suggest getting in gear and doing the test. It will most likely tell you right where the problem is.
