I was thinking of something that happened shortly before i left for iraq. as i was driving my evo to deliver it to the place where i am storing it, I nearly got ran over by a big truck. in order to keep this from happening while i was on the I15 i gave the car lots of gas to avoid the hit. braking or changing lanes wasnt an option due to traffic.

keep in mind my tuner loaded a break in map for me since my engine was rebuilt and i had not had an opportunity to have it re-tuned since it was broken in.

while accelerating, the engine paused 4 times. its hard to explain. it felt like a quick tap on the brakes but i never lifted off the gas. the engine sounded like it cut out momentarily each time. i avoided the hit but i was really worried after that.

i continued my drive and didn't think too much about it until i got to san diego and stopped at a light. when i started off the light i noticed a puff of smoke in my rear view mirror. i couldnt tell if it was blue or black ( as i know the car is running a bit rich right now ) but everytime i think of it i get a little sick to my stomach thinking i may have hurt my 10k + engine build.

the question is, is that a fuel cut i hit, what are the ramifications of fuel cut ( i heard its a really good way to nuke an engine ) and what could i have broken if that is oil smoke?
