In The Market For Clutch/Flywheel Kit - ASAP

I am in the market for a complete aftermarket clutch and lightened flywheel kit for my IX MR. I participate in 4-5 HPDE events a year and a few autocrosses, but for the most part my car is daily driven. The research I have done has pointed me towards the ACT HDSS kit (ACT part number MB7-HDSS). If you have other recommendations, I'd love to hear them. Also, I am not certain if this kit includes a throw-out bearing or not, but I will need all of the necessary hardware to go along with the clutch and flywheel to ensure a smooth install.

Thoughts, Suggestions, Opinions?

Talk to TTP he has great prices on that set up. Yes it comes with alignment tool and bearing.

You can get a flywheel of ebay for $150 dollars shipped. (with a warranty)

ACT clutches are great for not-so-high horsepower applications that are daily drivers.

NoLimitMotorspot.com has pretty competitive prices on ACT give them a shout!

I use a Clutch Masters FX 300 clutch and a Fidanza flywheel. Break in period is a little long because it's a kevlar unit ie. nearly 800 miles. Combo is awesome.

I've used this combo on my DSMs, never had any problems.

I think you are heading the right direction with the ACT unit, although the 3.2 Fidanza has had some very good reviews as well, feel free to contact me for unbeatable pricing on either

Our kit for the Evo does include a TOB and the alignment tool.

The following thread has opinions regarding our products that are both good and bad. There are even posts from people making above 500 whp using the HDSS kit. Keep in mind that clutches hold torque and not hp. FWIW most people are going to recommend what they have or what a friend has told them about so you're not going to get a lot of comparisons from one brand to another and if you do they are usually between dislike cluthes like a twin disc vs. a single disc. Feel free to ask me any questions about our products.

I have heard some having issues with high RPM lock-out, is this still an issue or has it been resolved (or is it resolvable with adjustment of the clutch)?

I have been in contact with Gruppe-S and they have been able to offer me the best deal with their 13.1lb flywheel (I don't want to go lighter due to driveability issues).

Thanks again for the input!

We've personally never seen a clutch from ANY manufacturer on an Evo that complained of lockout that could not be fixed by adjusting the clutch with the exception of cars with warped parts (pressure plate or disc from too much heat) or bent clutch discs from bad installation (letting the transmission hang from the input shaft ) or the disc was bent during shipping. I can show you 3 current threads on this forum where users of another clutch manufacturer complain of the same and the answers are the same, as above.
