VIII turbo vs IX turbo

...can anyone tell/show me the difference between the Evo VIII turbo and the Evo IX turbo? (without having to remove it)...is there a visual difference...like...oil lines? or something? hotside? compressor side?

I have an 05 Evo VIII (the one with the 10.5 hotside)...can people with stock turbos from both cars (VIII/IX) post pics?

Thanks!!!

i belive that the evo 9 turbo is the same as the 05 turbo just with a slightly bigger compressor housing. Visually on the car you wouldnt be able to tell, but I think you need different oil lines and coolant lines to istall, but im not sure.

You should be able to distinguish an VIII compressor housing from its IX counterpart visually. The IX compressor housing is way larger. The compressor housing's outlet nozzle is noticeably longer on the IX turbo.

Some guys just rebend the VIII lines to fit. Since the compressor housing of the IX turbo has a larger external diameter then the VIII coolant hardlines don't fit across the front on the IX housing. The black compressor housing discharge tube is different as well.

The easiest way to tell is if you see the two turbos side by side, off the car, on a bench. The differece is really quite obvious. I'll try to find some pics for you.
